On May 22, voters across metro Atlanta and Georgia will cast  ballots in the Republican and Democratic primaries, nonpartisan and special elections.

 

Who is on the ballot?

The most prominent election on May 22 will be for Governor. The Democrats and Republicans have contested primaries to choose nominees to replace Governor Nathan Deal, who is not on the ballot. (He has served two terms, the limit in Georgia.)

 

The ballot also includes candidates for Congress, Georgia House and Senate and state races that include Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State.

 

County commission seats and members of county boards of education are also on the ballot. Most counties also have nonpartisan judicial elections.

 

When is Election Day?

Polls will be open at local precincts on Tuesday, May 22. Runoff elections will be Tuesday, July 24.

 

Who can vote?

Voters must be registered to vote by Tuesday, April 24.
